Hello, I'm Liam

I work as a project manager, am a parent, and I’m an expat based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Started

Moving to Netherlands wasn’t planned for the long haul. Like many moves for expats, it began as a work chance and soon grew into something far greater.

The early months were exhausting — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they needed to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the fly. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.

Why I Built Harvest Meadow Byte

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.

This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Netherlands.

What This Site Covers (And Excludes)

This site is:

  • Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever a real change occurs

This site isn't:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Not a sponsored review platform
  • Not a generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our time in Netherlands goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

Liam
